FROM ENGINEER TO PRECISION RING MAKER

My name is Joseph Jauregui, founder and ring maker behind The Wooden Circle Co, a small independent workshop based in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Australia.
Before making rings full time, I trained and worked as an engineer after graduating with a Bachelor of Mechatronic Engineering from UTS. That background has shaped the way I approach every ring I make — with precision, patience, accuracy and a deep respect for materials.
The Wooden Circle Co began in August 2015 while I was still working full time as an engineer. What started as a small side project making bentwood rings slowly grew into something much larger. In our first month, I sold just two rings. Over time, as I continued refining my process and expanding into materials such as tantalum, titanium, Damascus steel, Timascus, gold and silver, the business grew beyond what I ever expected.
In July 2016, I made the decision to leave my engineering career and pursue The Wooden Circle Co full time. Since then, we have handcrafted and shipped rings to customers in 47 countries across 6 continents.
Today, The Wooden Circle Co specialises in precision crafted men’s wedding rings made from premium alternative metals. Every ring is individually made in our Southern Highlands workshop, combining engineering accuracy with traditional hand-finishing techniques.
We work with a wide range of materials including tantalum, titanium, Damascus steel, Timascus, gold, silver, carbon fibre and selected natural woods. Each piece is carefully shaped, machined, finished and inspected by hand to create a ring that is strong, personal and made to last.
While our designs have evolved over the years, our purpose remains the same: to create meaningful, well-made wedding rings for men who want something considered, durable and different from the traditional jewellery store offering.
